It's been some time since we had a blog post dedicated to "It's More Than A Puzzle", so today that's what I'm giving you.


Now, these blog posts always take me the longest to write, because I want them to be "More Than A Puzzle" blog (see what I did there?). So I try to make them as engaging as possible.


So today I'm here with something special. Random puzzles facts I can almost guarantee you didn't know. That being said, If you just hold facts similar to these in your head, please leave them below so we can all expand our puzzle knowledge together!


So here we go, 4 puzzle facts I bet you didn't know!

Rubiks Cube was not always a puzzle


1. The Inventor of the Rubiks Cube didn't realize he'd built a puzzle until he scrambled it, and realized how difficult it was to put it back together. Source




2. In 2011, a game called "Foldit", an online puzzle game about protein folding, became popular. While playing the game, a group of individuals were able to resolve the structure of an enzyme that causes an Aids-like disease in Monkeys, within a 3 week period. Something that researchers had been working to solve for over 13 years! Source



3. Will Shortz, the New York Times crossword puzzle editor, is the only person in the entire world to have graduated with a degree in enigmatology, which is the study of puzzles. Source




4. Ever wonder how codebreakers were recruited? Well, there is an organization called "Circada 3301" which posts difficult puzzles online, and apparently, that's how new hires are found. Source


I mean who knows, maybe if you complete "It's More Than A Puzzle" in record timing, you may be poached for a new career?
